About the Role This role requires an experienced and highly motivated Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide advanced, autonomous, and collaborative clinical care across Northern Health’s Emergency Department and Urgent Care Centres (UCC), including the newly opened Mernda Community Hospital. The NP will play a key role in delivering high quality, evidence-based care to patients presenting with a range of acute and urgent conditions, supporting timely assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and discharge where appropriate. Responsibilities Delivering expert clinical care in emergency and urgent care settings in line with the Nurse Practitioner scope of practice. Demonstrating advanced clinical leadership and decision-making to ensure safe and effective patient outcomes. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient flow, quality of care, and service delivery. Prescribing medications, ordering diagnostics, and referring to other health professionals as authorized. Participating in policy development, quality improvement, and clinical research activities to drive innovation and best practice. Mentoring and educating staff, promoting the Nurse Practitioner role across the organisation and wider community. Qualifications Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse and Endorsed Nurse Practitioner. Master of Nursing (qualifying for NP endorsement). Demonstrated experience as a Nurse Practitioner in Emergency, Urgent Care or Primary Care settings. Advanced clinical knowledge, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills with a commitment to patient-centered care. Commitment to continuous professional development, safety, and quality improvement.
