Your New Role In this role, you’ll act for respondent parties in a large number of native title claims and advise a broad client base including local governments, government corporations, developers, and pastoral holders -on the native title and cultural heritage dimensions of major infrastructure and development projects. Joining this highly regarded team means gaining access to a wide scope of matters that few practices can offer. You'll enjoy hands-on experience across: Providing strategic advice on compliance with native title and Aboriginal cultural heritage legislation; Appearing in Federal Court mediations and case management hearings; Conducting due diligence investigations and delivering insightful assessment advice; and Supporting and leading negotiations on Indigenous Land Use Agreements and Cultural Heritage Agreements. Your Skills Profile 1 - 4 years PAE; An understanding of native title and cultural heritage legislation; Be comfortable working closely with clients and Traditional Owners; Be interested in solving novel legal issues; Capable of juggling multiple matters and prioritising effectively; Have the ability or desire to run with matters with the assistance of a partner, as required; Strong interpersonal and communication skills; Self-driven and able to meet deadlines; Willingness to undertake pro-bono work, as required; Enjoy working in a team environment; and Travel, when necessary, for meetings or on-country court appearances.
