We are seeking a passionate and experienced Chef Extraordinaire to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in our childcare Centre by planning and preparing nutritious, balanced meals that cater to the dietary needs of children aged 0-5 years. You will be responsible for ensuring that meals are not only delicious but also meet the highest standards of food safety and hygiene. Meal Planning and Preparation Develop weekly menus that are nutritious, varied, and cater to children’s dietary needs, including allergies and cultural preferences. Prepare and cook meals for breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and snacks, ensuring they are served at appropriate temperatures and times. Food Safety and Hygiene Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, in compliance with all health and safety regulations. Manage food storage and rotation, ensuring that all food is fresh and stored appropriately. Dietary Management Work closely with the Centre Director and families to accommodate special dietary requirements, including allergies, intolerances, and religious/cultural preferences. Budget and Inventory Management Manage kitchen inventory, order supplies, and work within budget constraints. Monitor food costs and minimise waste. Collaborate with the childcare staff to support the educational themes and activities of the centre. Occasionally involve children in age-appropriate cooking activities to foster an interest in healthy eating. Qualifications and Experience Relevant culinary qualifications (e.g., Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent). Experience working in a commercial kitchen, preferably in a childcare or educational setting.Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices. Current Food Handling and Food Safety Supervisor certificates. Excellent organisational and time management skills. Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team. Passionate about providing healthy and nutritious meals for children. Creative in menu planning and meal preparation. Meticulous attention to detail, especially regarding food safety and hygiene.
