Staff Software Engineer – Fullstack The Home Buying team is building a brighter future for all by unlocking the dream of Home Ownership for all Australians. This is achieved through the end-to-end management of the Banks Home Loan business including distribution through proprietary and third-party channels, acquisition, retention, customer experience, risk, change and continuous improvement. Do work that matters As a hands-on technology leader with full stack experience, you will be guiding a team of engineers who will be designing & implementing solutions as well as influencing your Value streams tech leads, Product Owner & Crew Tech lead. Being product aligned and customer obsessed, you’ll own what you build (full cycle engineering model) and will be working in the latest technologies and frameworks (.Net Core, React, Angular, Azure, AWS, Containerisation with the potential for NodeJS/ NextJS & AI). You will mentor and lead engineers, build a community of engaged & curious engineers, and help create amazing products for our customers. You should have solid experience in the full software development lifecycle using Agile practices and DevSecOps, and be capable of designing and building Core and Web API’s, web applications, and running independent PoC’s. You should be confident in solution design, stakeholder engagement, and leading technical conversations in group forums, helping our engineers to do the same. You will actively engage in continuous learning, experimentation, and innovation, applying and promoting industry best patterns and practices. Responsibilities Guide a team of engineers in designing & implementing solutions and influence Value streams tech leads, Product Owner & Crew Tech lead. Own the full software lifecycle in a product-aligned, customer-obsessed environment. Lead technical conversations, stakeholder engagement, and mentorship to nurture engineers. Foster continuous learning, experimentation, and adoption of industry best patterns and practices. Tech Skills We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. Experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will help you succeed: Backend experience with .Net (Node.js is a bonus) Frontend experience with React.js, Next.js, Angular CI/CD Tools – TeamCity, Jenkins, Octopus or GitHub Actions etc Observability tools such as Splunk, Prometheus & Grafana Cloud knowledge with AWS Containerization using Docker Working with us Whether you’re passionate about customer service, driven by data, or called by creativity, a career with CommBank is for you.
