Established in 2019, Cancer Support Angels is a 100% volunteer-run organisation focused on uniting their network to establish support during some of the most difficult times in patients’ lives.By providing care packages for cancer patients, facilitating support groups and providing financial support, the team can help bring a sense of comfort and relief to patients and their families.The Opportunity:Most Australians have been touched by cancer in one way or another and many of us have joined in fundraising to help cover the costs of others’ treatments, medications, bills and more. Here at Cancer Support Angels, we provide practical, emotional and financial support to patients facing hardship, all whilst being entirely volunteer run. We are looking for a Treasurer to sit on our Board to help prioritise our annual plan and support our strategic goals and enable us to reach more individuals and families in need.Key responsibilities will include:Work with the Board on establishing and maintaining clear strategic direction for the organisationWork with our Board and Founder to ensure that strategic progress and organisational growth is achieved and measuredProvide guidance and support to our senior leadership teamAttend Board meetings (quarterly) or sub-committees as requiredActively contribute to the organisation by leveraging connections, networks and resources.What we’re looking for:The successful candidate(s) will demonstrate:Experience as a *qualified accountantCFO experience*Proven experience in Board or Directorship level roles, with a strong understanding of business models and financial acumenA strong working knowledge of governance roles and responsibilities across legal, ethical, financial and fiduciary responsibilitiesStrategic expertise in progressing the development of an organisationLeadership and management experience, including the ability to support, progress and motivate individuals and ensure that performance is being monitoredExisting relationships and corporate connections to facilitate and support organisational growth and progression.Of course, ultimately the desire to help others and contribute to the growth and success of our organisation will be paramount.The role will be an unpaid volunteer opportunity and we ask that volunteers are able to commit to a timeframe of at least 12 months in the role – although we hope that you’ll want to stay with us for much longerWhy volunteer with Cancer Support Angels?Just some of the reasons that now could be the perfect time for you to volunteer with us:Alternate meetings (face to face, zoom, can be negotiated if outside Victoria)Work alongside other friendly and passionate volunteers, make lifelong connections and learn from each otherGive your free time to those in need and fill your day with added purposeHow to apply:If this sounds like what you are looking for in a volunteer opportunity, we would love to hear from youTo apply please use the link below, or alternatively send your CV to our Recruitment Team at successful volunteers are required to complete a police check and acknowledge a volunteer agreement and some roles may require confirmation of vaccination status.Cancer Support Angels is committed to an inclusive recruitment process and workplace - we believe that everyone has the right to a fair and accessible experience.
