About the Opportunity This role is a Lead Mechanical Engineer – Auxiliary for the Hunter Class Frigate Program. It can be performed out of Adelaide, Victoria, NSW, Queensland or Perth, with occasional travel to Osborne if you are based outside Adelaide. Key Responsibilities Lead engineering outputs of the mechanical engineering auxiliary team. Manage and lead a small team of multi‑disciplinary engineers. Develop mechanical auxiliary system equipment to meet requirements, including participating in design reviews. Develop optimised mechanical auxiliary system and/or equipment detail designs and present them in design reviews. Support translation of design into a manufacturable solution, incorporating changes as required. Undertake integration and validation of the mechanical auxiliary system and/or equipment design, contributing to plans and reports. Support qualification activities to ensure that the product meets all requirements, including safety and regulatory requirements. About You Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or Aerospace Engineering (maritime experience may be considered). Demonstrated leadership experience, managing a team and providing day‑to‑day support. Experience in a maritime/marine defence environment is highly advantageous. Extensive background in the design, maintenance, and troubleshooting of auxiliary piping. Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement and documentation writing. Strong problem‑solving skills. Ability to prioritise individual work and the team’s workload, multitasking various issues and demands. A current NV1 clearance or eligibility to obtain.
