Multiple positions available 12 month fixed term position commencing January 2026 Full Time at 80 hours per fortnight including ADO Grade 1 Physiotherapist Classification (VA3 - VA7) Alfred Hospital/ Sandringham Hospital/Caulfield Hospital rotational position Great staff benefits Apply now as interviews may be offered prior to closing date The Department Alfred Health’s Physiotherapy Department provides acute physiotherapy services to the patients of The Alfred and Sandringham Hospital and subacute physiotherapy services to Caulfield Hospital. The acute physiotherapy service is organised into five functional streams, namely: Intensive Care, Musculoskeletal, Respiratory, PAN (Progressive Illness, Aged Care and Neurosciences), and Sandringham. The first four streams are located at The Alfred site, with the fifth and latter streams based at the Sandringham site. The physiotherapy service provides acute clinical services and expertise in the following areas: intensive care, cardiothoracic surgery, general surgery, orthopaedics, trauma, burns, lung transplantation, cystic fibrosis, pulmonary rehabilitation, neurology and neurosurgery, infectious diseases, haematology/oncology, general medicine, haemophilia and emergency. The Physiotherapy service at Caulfield Hospital provides an extensive range of inpatient and ambulatory services in the areas of rehabilitation, aged care and residential care services. The Physiotherapy Service provides subacute clinical services and expertise in the following areas: neurology, non-traumatic spinal cord injury, orthopaedics, amputees, burns, complex regional pain, cardiac rehabilitation, aged care, transitional care and aged psychiatry. The physiotherapy department is organised into functional streams: Neurological Rehabilitation, Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation, Health of Older Persons (HOP) and ABI. The Alfred Health Physiotherapy Department has more than 100 EFT and employs over 170 staff. The physiotherapy service has a proud history of clinical and academic excellence. It remains strongly committed to further pursuing excellence in physiotherapy, through clinical research. The Alfred Health Physiotherapy Department is a major partner in the Alfred Health Physiotherapy Clinical Schools for both La Trobe and Monash Universities and in this role provides core and elective clinical placements for more than 50 undergraduate physiotherapy students. Position Summary The Grade 1 Physiotherapist will be involved in rotations across The Alfred, Caulfield and Sandringham Hospital sites. This position is one of >30 Grade 1 physiotherapy positions which are located at The Alfred, Caulfield and Sandringham, with 1 position being a rural secondment to Alice Springs. The position will rotate across all clinical areas serviced by the Alfred Health Physiotherapy Service and will also be involved in the provision of an after-hours, weekend and public holiday service. The Grade 1 will work closely with the relevant Grade 2, 3 or 4 physiotherapists to ensure the provision of best-practice patient care and the achievement of maximal operational effectiveness. The Grade 1 physiotherapist will contribute to the smooth and efficient running of the physiotherapy service by taking on an identified portfolio. The portfolio may be clinical, operational, research or quality improvement in nature. Skills/Qualifications Required Current and unrestricted registration with AHPRA Responsible for the delivery of physiotherapy services to the designated units in consultation with a senior physiotherapist.
