East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust Recovery Practitioner The closing date is 19 January 2026 We are looking to recruit highly motivated nurses/ODPs who are passionate about the care of patients to join our recovery team in Ipswich hospital. The role will be working in both the existing recovery unit, the new theatre recovery suite and our brand new Post-Operative Care Unit (POCU). Main duties of the job In this post you will deliver excellent and individualised care to our patients, and you will be fully supported to achieve this through our comprehensive educational strategy. Depending on your level of experience, you will develop your competence and confidence through a program of supervised practice, Post‑Operative and Recovery specific competencies and a series of development days. You will work within a Clinical Specialist team and contribute to activities and projects with a goal of professional and practice development. POCU is a new, developing service within the Trust and we are fully committed to offering the appropriate support, guidance and training of our staff to offer our patients the extended care they need post surgery. There are a number of development opportunities such as the Degree top‑up, Anaesthetic course and ALS/ILS/PILS. In this role you will be expected to undertake internal rotation of shifts. Person Specification Qualifications NMC Registered Nurse Adult Branch/Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC) Basic Life Support course Willing to work towards achievement of Recovery/Post‑Operative Care qualification Mentorship module or willing to work towards achievement Transfer Training ILS PILS Experience Current experience of working in an acute hospital setting (inclusive of pre‑registration training) Evidence of current/continuing professional development Insight into Post‑operative Care and Recovery environment Knowledge Demonstrable knowledge of current issues in health care and nursing Knowledge of research Evidence of competent acute care clinical skills Demonstrate knowledge of clinical audit Ability to teach and support staff and pre‑registration students Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
