Course Coordinator(s) Higher Education (Adelaide and Melbourne) With campuses in Adelaide and Melbourne, IBC Education is a higher education institution that will offer three courses in the human, community services and health fields. IBC is a registered higher education provider (PRV 14412) currently seeking CRICOS accreditation with the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency. Our purpose is to develop capable and resilient practitioners who contribute meaningfully to the wellbeing of individuals and communities. Through a strong foundation in theory, practice and reflection, we will prepare graduates to respond effectively to the complex challenges facing community and health service delivery in Australia. We are guided by a commitment to ethical practice, continuous improvement, and social responsibility to ensure our graduates make a lasting and positive impact within the communities they serve. Course Coordinators of the Bachelor of Human and Community Services are senior academics with disciplinary expertise and leadership skills. The Course Coordinators demonstrate strong records in all aspects of course management and improvement. Reporting to the Academic Dean, this role contributes to creating and maintaining a culture of scholarly activity. As Discipline Heads, Course Coordinators plan and coordinate courses delivered, including timetabling and scheduling examinations. The Course Coordinator reports to and supports the Academic Dean in ensuring high quality learning and teaching outcomes with a focus on continuous improvement. Course Coordinators are members of various sub‑committees of the Academic Board. Key responsibilities 1. The Course Coordinator is the Discipline Head with responsibilities for the Human and Community Services discipline. a) Students: admission, progression, orientation, and completion. (i) Contribute to academic induction and student orientation each study period. (ii) Assess and advise on student applications for recognition of prior learning. (iii) Oversee and report on student assessment and on internal and external moderation activities. (iv) Provide course‑specific advice to students as required at any point in their course, including ensuring eligibility for graduation. (v) Liaise with academic staff in ensuring student progress, including monitoring student progression. (vi) Liaise with academic staff to ensure student wellbeing and safety concerns are identified and appropriate referral pathways implemented. b) Courses: review, development, and management. (i) Contribute to regular external benchmarking of coursework. (ii) Manage the annual review of courses in line with our policies and frameworks. (iii) Compile regular reports on assessment, course review and moderation for the Learning and Teaching Committee, Course Development Committee, and the Academic Dean. (iv) Oversee and report on student satisfaction surveys and staff satisfaction surveys for each study period. c) Learning and Teaching. (i) Monitor and populate as needed the Learning Management System (LMS) website for the course to ensure academic staff have timely access to the LMS. (ii) Ensure prescribed and recommended texts per subject are current and available to students and staff prior to commencement of each study period. (iii) Ensure lecturers have appropriate resources for delivery of subjects. (iv) Contribute to the development of timetables for each study period in consultation with academic staff. (v) Organise examinations for relevant subjects. (vi) Deliver core subjects in Human and Community Services and related disciplines and as required up to two units per study period. (vii) Provide students with opportunities for consultation for two hours per week. (viii) Ensure high quality learning experiences are delivered to students with diverse backgrounds. (ix) Ensure field placements are of high quality and provide a rick learning experience for students. (x) Engage in scholarship and scholarly activity. d) Academic oversight. (i) Manage allegations of academic misconduct, maintain appropriate records, and provide referrals to academic support services as required. (ii) Ensure accurate records of student results and grades for the study period. (iii) Contribute to the recruitment and management of academic staff. (iv) Comply with our policies. (v) Other duties as required by the Academic Dean. Required qualifications and experience 1. Doctorate level qualification in the field of human and community services or a closely related cognate discipline area or equivalent. 2. Minimum of 5 years teaching experience and preferably a tertiary teaching qualification. 3. Minimum of 3 years field experience post‑qualification. 4. Demonstrated record of success in the administration and delivery of a related in a higher education setting, including teaching, curriculum design and review, timetabling, and assessment moderation. 5. Demonstrated record of academic scholarship as reflected in publications and conference presentations. 6. Comprehensive knowledge of contemporary teaching, learning and assessment principles relevant to the discipline, and demonstrated experience in applying these principles. 7. Successful leadership experience with the ability to motivate, lead and develop people including team building and mentoring. 8. Demonstrated engagement with the sector and communities of practice. 9. Eligibility for membership of a relevant professional association, such as Community Work Australia or Australian Association of Social Workers. 10. Highly developed organisational and planning skills with the ability to determine priorities, be self‑directed and work with minimal supervision. 11. Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Personal attributes 1. Strong interpersonal skills. 2. Superior interpersonal written and oral communication skills, including the ability to negotiate and interact with internal and external stakeholders to develop and maintain effective professional relationships. 3. Creative problem‑solver. 4. Ability to respect confidentiality and privacy. 5. Must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or hold a current working visa for Australia.
