Maclean Golf Club is seeking a motivated and reliable Apprentice Greenkeeper to join our small, dedicated team. Our course features a championship 18‑hole golf course and is quickly becoming renowned as one of the best courses in the Northern Rivers drawing visitors from all over the country. As we are a small team, you’ll have the opportunity to be involved in every aspect of course and turf management – from mowing and irrigation to renovations and equipment maintenance. No two days are the same, and you’ll quickly build a wide range of practical skills. The role is a minimum of 38 hours a week with some weekend work. Day lengths are rostered according to availability of the course and maintenance programs. What You’ll Learn and Do Maintain and prepare the golf course to a high standard Operate, service, and care for turf maintenance machinery Assist with irrigation, fertilising, and pest management Help with course setup, turf renovation, and improvement projects Gain a thorough, hands‑on understanding of sports turf management What We’re Looking For Positive attitude and willingness to learn Reliable, punctual, and takes pride in their work Enjoys being part of a small, friendly team Current driver’s licence and must have transport to and from work Someone who doesn’t mind early starts and early finishes Prepared to work early morning Saturday work, when rostered What We Offer Full‑time apprenticeship leading to a Certificate III in Sports Turf Management On‑the‑job mentoring from experienced staff Support for your TAFE studies Variety in your day – you’ll get to do a bit of everything A friendly and supportive community club environment TAFE TAFE is in Brisbane over 3 blocks a year. These are 4 to 5 days in duration each. Attendance to TAFE is a mandatory part of the role. Travel and expenses as per the award will be provided to attend TAFE. Accommodation will be provided by the club to attend TAFE. Where the apprentice wishes to be accompanied by a parent or guardian a twin room will be provided. Experience is not necessary as we provide the training and resources for our team members to excel. We take pride in our diverse workforce and would encourage all interested applicants. Please supply a resume which includes any work history, your last two report cards from your high school, and you are welcome to include any certificates or licences. Please include at least two current referees. If you don’t have work references, you may use a teacher, sporting coach or a member of an organisation you may have volunteered at, which would also be appropriate.
