Woollahra Council has an exciting opportunity for a trainee Preschool Assistant to join our creative and dynamic Woollahra Preschool team on a fixed term 2 year contract, starting by 28 February 2026. In this entry-level role, you will join a team of dedicated educators and learn about all areas of Early Childhood Education. Build the skills required to work as a Preschool Assistant and join the early childhood education sector. Learn how to develop an inclusive curriculum that draws upon sound knowledge of child development and how to carry out written observations, developmental records and learning plans in collaboration with Preschool teachers and assistants. In addition to on-the-job training, you will be required to complete a Certificate III or Diploma in Child Care. The theoretical component of this traineeship is delivered through a combination of online and face-to‑face learning on a part-time basis through Randwick TAFE. This position is subject to child protection screening and a pre‑employment medical check. Eligibility and Qualifications Has not previously completed a qualification in Child Care or related field. Eligible to enrol in Certificate III or Diploma in Child Care, Children’s Services. Strong willingness to learn and the ability to successfully complete a Certificate III or Diploma in Child Care, Children’s Services. Well‑developed oral and written communication skills. Genuine interest in working with children, including children with additional needs. Genuine interest to actively participate in a team striving for excellence in early childhood education with a commitment to the rights of children and the principles of social justice. Proven ability to follow instructions and contribute to fulfilling the operational workload of a team. Clearance to work with children as required under the Working with Children Check.
