ABOUT GEMCO Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world's manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963 WHAT SOUTH32 OFFERS 26 weeks full-paid, or 52 weeks half-paid parental leave for primary carers Annual short-term incentive bonus that recognises both your individual performance and the overall success of the business Education assistance up to $8000 per year Residential option offers low-cost living and generous reimbursable family Holiday Travel Assistance ABOUT THE ROLE This is a permanent full-time position on a 4:3 roster (Monday to Thursday), either residential on Groote Eylandt, or FIFO from Darwin or Cairns. Alternative 7:7 roster out of Brisbane will be considered. Domestic relocation to Alyangula, Darwin, or Cairns from anywhere in Australia is provided. As the Senior Project Studies & Approvals Advisor , you will be responsible for supporting the delivery and execution of environmental and social impact assessment studies that will enable planned exploration and mining activities to access future resources. Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to: Prepare Mine Management Plans for both exploration and mining activities Assist in obtaining regulatory approvals required to support exploration and capital projects Identify environmental and social risks associated with land access and regulatory approval pathways, and implement corrective actions to address and manage Support consultants to deliver on a variety of technical and social assessment related studies required as part of preparing environmental approval applications Assist in preparing forecast budgets, monthly accruals, schedule updates and 2-yearly work plans ABOUT YOU You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: Significant experience in a similar role, preferably within the mining & resources industry Knowledge of Commonwealth and State environmental legislation and approval processes Demonstrated expertise in environmental management and impact assessments Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to facilitate cooperation amongst a multi-disciplinary team of technical environmental consultants and project planning employees Qualifications for this position are: Tertiary Qualification in Science or Natural Resources disciplines desirable South32 is committed to building and maintaining an inclusive and diverse workforce that reflects the communities in which we operate.
