What does the job look like? We’re looking for a Group Manager – Transport to take charge of our national transport operations and deliver best-in-class service for some of Australia’s most recognized brands. This is a senior leadership role based in Sydney or Melbourne , reporting directly to the President of our Consumer and Healthcare Group. You’ll lead a large-scale, complex transport operation with over 200 employees and contractors, supported by a strong state leadership team. Your focus will be on operational execution, safety, compliance, and continuous improvement, while driving innovation and efficiency across primary and secondary freight services. Key Responsibilities Lead national transport operations with a hands-on approach, ensuring seamless execution and service excellence. Build and inspire high-performing teams, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and trust. Deliver operational optimisation, leveraging technology (including Blue Yonder TMS) and process improvements to enhance efficiency. Ensure compliance and safety standards, including Chain of Responsibility and company policies. Manage financial performance, budgets, and KPIs to achieve sustainable outcomes. Engage with customers and stakeholders, strengthening relationships and identifying growth opportunities. About you You’re not just a strategist, but an accomplished transport leader with deep operational expertise and proven success leading large teams. You understand the complexities of transport networks and thrive on leading large-scale operations. Your experience spans freight management, team leadership, and commercial performance, and you’re ready to take ownership of a national portfolio. Extensive experience in transport operations and leadership at a senior level. Proven ability to manage large teams and complex networks across multiple states. Strong commercial acumen and analytical skills. Expertise in customer engagement, contract management, and stakeholder relationships. A track record of driving efficiency, technology adoption, and continuous improvement. Tertiary qualifications in logistics or business management (desirable).
