The role supports teachers, strengthens student learning and wellbeing, and helps families manage their children’s learning and mental health needs. The successful candidate will provide services across primary and high school aged students, collaborate with school communities, external agencies, and a multidisciplinary team, and participate in continuing professional development. Key Accountabilities Provide counselling and psychological services to students individually and in groups, including short‑term therapeutic interventions within the constraints of training, experience, and supervision. Engage with and implement the Professional Practice Framework for the NSW School Counselling Service. Consult with principal, school executive, staff, and student support services to improve student learning and wellbeing and implement current departmental priorities. Contribute to the social, emotional, and academic development of students, supporting those with complex behavioural needs. Administer cognitive, social, emotional, and behavioural assessments, report results, and collaborate to improve learning, wellbeing, and mental health outcomes. Work collaboratively with learning and support teams, parents, carers, and other agencies to develop appropriate school‑based support. Respond as part of a team to assist schools experiencing serious incidents. Refer students or their families and carers to other agencies that support student health and wellbeing outcomes. Essential Requirements Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and the NSW AECG partnership agreement. General or provisional psychology registration with active internship on the Psychology Board of Australia. Valid Working with Children Check clearance. Current valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel between work sites. Australian citizenship or permanent residency. Special Notes Applicants may apply for full‑time or part‑time employment (FTE 0.1–0.9). If a part‑time appointment is secured they will be offered their desired FTE.
