Commercial Property Insurance Underwriter (Sydney or Melbourne) Join FM and grow your career in leading commercial property insurance for large corporates. FM is a global insurer that provides engineering-based risk management and property insurance solutions to more than one-third of Fortune 1000 size companies. Key Responsibilities Produce new business and renewal retention while maintaining underwriting profit and protecting company assets. Market FM Affiliated products to producers, building and sustaining long‑term broker relationships. Make profitable risk selections, negotiate pricing, terms and conditions, and use creative underwriting strategies to optimize net retentions. Coordinate account team resources to deliver responsive, value‑added services for brokers and customers. Collaborate closely with Account Engineers to review renewal and new business opportunities, ensuring proper risk identification, analysis and assessment. Meet specific profit, production and retention goals set in consultation with the District Manager. Establish multiple business contacts and actively manage an outreach programme, averaging 10 face‑to‑face visits per month. Travel required for marketing, out‑of‑state engagements and training. Adhere to company underwriting standards, including net capacity commitment, cross‑liability checking, catastrophe aggregate retentions, reinsurance purchasing and commission structures. Qualifications, Skills And Experience Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and experience. 2–5 years industry experience as an underwriter for commercial property accounts of varying occupancies and sizes. Strong understanding of risk and coverage—including risk identification, property insurance coverage and forms, financial statements and business applications. Demonstrated oral and written communication, collaboration, attention to detail, time management, analysis, decision‑making, problem‑solving, sales, negotiation and presentation skills.
