About the Opportunity This newly created, high-profile role offers a unique opportunity to shape the strategic direction of one of Victoria’s most significant Green Wedge areas. You’ll lead the development and preparation of the Green Wedge Management Plan for Southern Ranges and Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges Green Wedge, influence planning outcomes across the municipality, and present directly to the Executive Leadership Team. Aligned with Council Plan priorities, this role places you at the forefront of planning innovation, balancing growth, sustainability, and community wellbeing while working alongside seasoned professionals in a collaborative and supportive environment. You will make an impact by Leading the development and preparation of the Green Wedge Management Plan and implementation plan. Driving strategic planning initiatives that protect our natural environment while enabling sustainable growth. Providing expert advice and mentoring to emerging planners within the team. Engaging with councillors, community groups, and external agencies to build shared planning outcomes. Presenting strategic planning projects to the Executive Leadership Team and other key stakeholders. What you will bring Tertiary qualifications in planning or a related discipline. Extensive experience in strategic land use planning, ideally with Green Wedge exposure. Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills across government, community, and industry. Proven ability in policy development, project management, and strategic report writing. Deep understanding of planning legislation, including the Planning and Environment Act 1987 and the State Government’s Plan for Victoria and Planning for Melbourne Green Wedges and Land Action Plan 2024 – August 2025 update. Experience leading complex planning projects and managing external consultants. Confidence in presenting to executive audiences and navigating high-level decision-making environments.
