Medical Laboratory Assistant – NSW Health Pathology Employment Type: Permanent Full Time Position Classification: Technical Assistant Grade 2 Remuneration: $64 - $66 per annum plus superannuation Hours Per Week: 38 Location: Goulburn Base Hospital Applications Close: 3 December 59pm About the Opportunity Goulburn Base Hospital is seeking a motivated Scientific Officer to join our team on a permanent full‑time basis. This role involves performing diagnostic testing and supporting laboratory operations to ensure high‑quality patient care. Goulburn is located 2 hrs south of Sydney and 1 hr north of Canberra, declared Australia's first inland city. Accrued days off in addition to annual leave Generous salary packaging options and other fringe benefits Corporate wellbeing programs, including the Fitness Passport Learning and development opportunities, including in‑house training with RTO My Health Learning What You'll Be Doing Contribute to a high‑quality pathology service by performing a range of pre‑analytical duties including pathology collections, receiving and triaging of specimens, patient registration and request entry. Prepare specimens for transport or delivery to laboratories for timely, accurate diagnostic testing. Maintain pre‑analytical equipment and ensure data accuracy with strong computer skills. Communicate effectively with colleagues, customers, internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrate problem‑solving and analytical skills to investigate and resolve general issues. Adhere to confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive information in line with legislation, policies and requirements. Participate in a 24/7 rotating shift roster, including weekends, public holidays and night shifts, and be willing to travel to any site within the operational area as required. Qualifications Certificate III in Pathology, Pathology Collections or Pathology Assistance, or equivalent experience in a pathology setting. Demonstrated ability to learn all aspects of the pre‑analytical environment, including phlebotomy.
