Join to apply for the Trades & Plant Operators role at Bouygues Construction Australia The Australian Antarctic Infrastructure Renewal Alliance is seeking various skilled tradespeople to deliver the first stage of a multi-decade pipeline of work to renew and expand Australian infrastructure in Antarctica. Initial work includes an expedition for the Antarctic summer season for 2026/2027, building new water production facilities, a utility building with power and workshop facilities, and major structural works. Living and working in Antarctica is a challenging but extremely rewarding opportunity. Available Roles & Key Requirements Plant Operators (CW5 & CW7) Required: High Risk Work Licence (HRWL) for relevant plant; VOC; White Card Desirable: Crane, HR, Excavator, Dozer, Front-end loader, Drill Mast Experience: At least 3 years post-qualification experience operating heavy machinery safely; advanced civil/remote operations for CW7 Carpenters (CW5, CW6 & CW8) Required: Certificate III in Carpentry; White Card Desirable: Foreperson, dogging, scaffold, plant ticket, EWP Experience: At least 3 years post-qualification experience in structural and finishing carpentry; CW6 requires 3–5 years; CW8 extensive experience and plan interpretation Riggers (CW5) Required: HRWL – Rigging (Basic/Intermediate/Advanced); White Card Desirable: Intermediate minimum, Scaffold, Welder, EWP Experience: At least 3 years post-qualification experience with cranes, hoisting, and load calculations Plumbers (CW6 & CW7) Required: Certificate III in Plumbing; Plumbing Licence; White Card Desirable: Trade +, plant ticket; site service/plant room/commissioning experience Experience: At least 3 years post-qualification experience in water, gas, drainage systems installation; CW7 requires complex/industrial installations experience Electricians (CW6 & CW7) Required: Certificate III in Electrotechnology; Electrical Licence; White Card Desirable: Trade +, plant ticket; Antarctic experience, Certificate III or IV in Electrical Instrumentation, Experience with electrical reticulation systems, refrigeration plant, building monitoring control system, and automatic fire detection/alarm systems. reverse osmosis units, and wastewater treatment plants. Requirements Successful completion of the selection process: Includes written application, interviews, technical assessments, medical and psychological screening, reference checks Valid Passport - The expiry date of the passport (and any relevant visa) must be at least 6 months beyond the planned end date of the expedition Living Conditions: While Davis Station offers private bedrooms and comfortable facilities, candidates must be prepared to share and contribute to communal living spaces (including dining and bathrooms), cleaning and other responsibilities. Personal freedoms of movement may also be limited at times due to physical isolation and occasional harsh weather.
