Position : Telecommunications Technician Position Type : Full-Time Salary : $77,000 to $82,000 plus superannuation per annum Location : Bungalow QLD 4870 Our client is a locally owned and operated business based in Cairns, Queensland. Established in 2004, the company specializes in providing high-quality telecommunications solutions, including structured cabling, telephone systems, CCTV and surveillance systems, and network infrastructure services. With a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction, they cater to both residential and commercial clients throughout Far North Queensland. We are seeking a motivated and experienced Telecommunications Technician to join their team with the ability to work unsupervised, a positive attitude towards learning, and an aptitude for expanding their existing technical skillset. A full-time position is available for immediate start. Duties and Responsibilities : Install and maintain copper and fibre optic cabling for voice and data systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings, ensuring compliance with Australian standards. Install, configure, and repair telecommunications equipment including IP telephones, PABX systems, switches, routers, and data transmission devices. Set up and configure IP-based telephone systems, CCTV surveillance equipment, audiovisual (AV) systems, and public address (PA) systems, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure. Perform comprehensive testing of installed systems using industry-standard tools, providing detailed reports and certifications as required. Diagnose and resolve faults in telecommunications systems, including legacy and modern setups, to minimize downtime and maintain service quality. Interpret technical plans and collaborate with clients to ensure installations meet their specific needs and expectations. Travel to various job sites across Cairns and remote areas of Far North Queensland, as needed, to deliver services and support. Requirements : Hold a Certificate III in Telecommunications Technology (ICT30519) or an equivalent recognised telecommunications qualification. Minimum of four (4) years of experience as a Telecommunications Technician within the telecommunications and / or security industry. Hold current ACMA cabling licence with endorsements of Structured and Fibre Optics Experience with Certified Cabling systems such as Molex, CommScope / Krone, or similar, and familiar with the testing equipment. Competent with Cat6 and Cat6A cabling, having experience with fibre optic(SM / MM) and splicing. Experience with PABX and security / CCTV systems, worked with PA and AV cabling. Have excellent safety awareness and meticulous attention to detail to maintain a high standard of workmanship. Hold current driver's licence and Safety Awareness Training Certificate (or White Card) Must pass a security clearance check A company car can be provided for work purposes and fuel required for travel will be reimbursed.
