Responsibilities Design, build and own APIs and event driven services to be used as building blocks to enhance and scale our superannuation administration platform. Write clean code, perform code reviews, produce documentation and take the lead in solving complex technical challenges. Build reusable frameworks, patterns and components that accelerate product development. Champion high standards for code and platform health through automated regression, performance and resiliency testing. Drive operational excellence by instrumenting observability, creating run books and contributing to incident response and resolution. Lead technical discussions and architectural sparring sessions, driving the best technical outcome within time and budget constraints. Contribute to strategic technical decisions and champion the adoption of best practices and new technologies. Proactively identify opportunities to improve our software engineering practices. Foster a culture of collaboration and knowledge across product, design and engineering. Mentor less experienced engineers in best practice. Help grow the engineering team through interviews and code reviews. What You Will Bring A healthy curiosity, autonomy and a strong sense of accountability. Strong desire to perform and grow as an engineer. Demonstrated technical initiative and a penchant for clean code. 6+ years of experience designing, building, deploying and scaling web applications. Extensive Knowledge Of Cloud architecture principles (load balancing, high availability, server-based and serverless architecture, database configurations) Microservices patterns and principles (Event Driven, Service Mesh, API Gateways) Defensive programming principles (circuit breakers, resiliency frameworks, fault tolerance, self-healing mechanisms) Fluency in at least one modern programming language – Kotlin and related frameworks. Experience working with event brokers like Kafka. Experience working with Linux, Docker and Kubernetes. Experience working with CI/CD platforms (BuildKite). Experience working with AWS. Experience working with observability tools like Elastic. Experience working with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
