Role: Tobacco Regulatory Control Officer Hourly Rate: $55 + Super Contract Length: Initial contract until 08 / 06 / 26 Location: St Leonards / Travel Required An opportunity has opened for a motivated professional to support regulatory compliance and help reduce tobacco and vaping-related harm across the community. About the Role In this position, you will carry out inspections, investigations, and enforcement activities under key public health legislation. You'll monitor compliance across retailers and smoke-free locations, manage cases, prepare documentation to support enforcement action, and contribute to initiatives that strengthen risk-based compliance programs. The role involves a mix of office and field work, including statewide travel and collaboration with partner agencies. Key Responsibilities Conduct inspections of regulated premises and smoke-free areas. Investigate potential breaches and take appropriate enforcement action. Prepare evidence, documentation, briefs, and court material. Support covert and overt operations, case management, and compliance planning. Analyse compliance activity data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Respond to reports of non-compliance and follow through on assessments. About You You bring strong analytical skills, sound judgement, and the confidence to manage challenging interactions professionally. You have experience in regulatory or compliance environments, the ability to interpret legislation, and strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills. A current driver's licence is essential, and a Certificate IV in Government Investigations (or equivalent experience) is highly regarded but not mandatory.
