Marion Church of Christ – Mitchell Park SA DISCOVERING JESUS VALUING PEOPLE BUILDING COMMUNITY “Marion Church of Christ aims to be a loving, generous, healthy community of passionate disciples of Jesus.” Position Overview The Senior Pastor of Marion Church of Christ provides the spiritual and pastoral leadership to our multi-generational church, guiding us in growing discipleship of Jesus and serving our local community. Marion Church of Christ offers a wide range of ministries and programs that engage people of all ages in our mission of Discovering Jesus, Valuing People and Building Community. The Senior Pastor partners closely with our mission partner MarionLIFE Inc and leads us through personal example, preaching, teaching, equipping and training, inspiring our community to be the people of God. Key Elements of the Position and Selection Criteria God called Applicants must demonstrate a discerned sense of calling to serve God through leading Marion Church of Christ in its vision and mission. Directional leadership The Senior Pastor will cultivate a shared vision focused on church growth and meaningful connections with young adults and families. Responsibilities include: Collaborating with the Governing Council, Associate Pastors, ministry leaders and the church body to determine God’s vision for ministries. Communicating this vision to inspire commitment and action. Developing strategies to implement the vision. Gifted Preaching and Bible Teaching The Senior Pastor leads the preaching and teaching program, responsible for approximately 70% of sermons and integrating teaching themes across worship and Life Groups. Equipping, Training, Encouraging and Mentoring The Senior Pastor develops the gifts of others, encouraging service and fostering outreach and evangelism. Responsibilities include: Equipping and encouraging volunteers. Assisting individuals in discovering and using their gifts. Creating opportunities for outreach and evangelism. Pastoral Care and Community Connection The Senior Pastor oversees pastoral care ministries and directs community service programs, with personal involvement as needed. Qualifications and Experience Applicants must meet the following: Graduate of a recognised theological college. Experience conducting baptisms, weddings and funerals. Experience in church building programs or development. Experience with HR, legal compliance and policy management. Knowledge of business management processes. Additional Qualifications Baptised believer displaying the fruits of the Spirit. Willingness to adopt the doctrines and practices of Churches of Christ. Proven ministry experience of at least five years in a paid ministry role, senior leadership experience and relevant education an advantage. Team player with strong leadership and communication skills. Energetic, resourceful and innovative in ministry and leadership development. Time management and networking skills. Skilled in translating and transferring biblical truths with compassion in community work.
