About the Role We are seeking an experienced Engineering and Design Manager to join Iberdrola and the VNI West Project team. Based in the Melbourne CBD, reporting to the Design and Construct Lead, this role will provide leadership and support to the design disciplines of the project to ensure compliance with the Scope & Technical Requirements within time, quality and budget to the clients and Iberdrola’s requirements. Some Specific Responsibilities Include: To ensure a consistent and rigorous approach to the management of risks and opportunities is undertaken through the design development process Ensure the effective implementation of Design Management Systems where applicable, for the day-to-day management of the design process. Ensure documentation and implementation of the Design Management Plan is consistent with the project requirements and the IMS Manage the effective implementation and adherence of safety in design safety and environmental procedures. Ensure all design activities are carried out in accordance with National, State and Company Safety and Environmental Policies and Procedures including review and oversight of contractor site specific Safety Plan and Environmental Plan. Manage the strategies for implementation of Environmental Sustainability into design disciplines adopted and cascaded into the design consultant / contractors scope and requirements. Encourage, motivate and develop design management staff so as to utilise the full scope of their abilities to enhance individual, team performance and career opportunities. Monitor, planning, programming and resourcing to ensure design targets and objectives are met Maintain master design program and co-ordinate with Design Managers and consultants detail programs to ensure most efficient use of resources and completion of project in accordance with contract requirements. Develop and maintain strategic alliances with key consultants to improve our ability to satisfy the company’s expectation for design outcomes in asset lifecycle management. About You To be considered for this career opportunity, it is expected you would possess: A recognised Tertiary Engineering qualification and ideally post graduate qualifications in Project Management Extensive, proven experience in engineering / design management roles within high voltage and / or transmission lines and capital projects / program up to $500M. Proven experience in Management of multidisciplinary technical teams Strong understanding of contemporary practices in design and construction methodology Strong understanding of contractual, legal, commercial, industrial relations and legislative compliance Financial and commercial management including cost reduction and meeting budgets.
