Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Coordinator
is responsible for providing leadership, technical support and advice on all aspects of HSE; help assess the implementation of the HSE Program within the workplace, and as required, developing and/or providing related training.This is a term position working with our client in Victoria BC to review and develop safe work procedures for their maritime/ship maintenance operations. Additionally the HSE coordinator will work to develop implement and maintain safe operations for our engineering team working on this project.Location – Victoria, BCHow will you contribute to the team?To perform this role successfully, the individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following:Provide coaching, direction and guidance in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of HSE Program requirements and monitor for continued effectiveness. This includes the management team to increase field level safety knowledge and presence.Monitor compliance to applicable HSE regulations, license requirements, codes and standards and training competencies and qualifications.Conduct routine audits and inspection of work activities (including behaviour based observations) to ensure overall compliance with the HSE management system (policies, standards, safe work practices and safe work procedures) and issue formal auditing reports and where applicable recommend corrective actions and follow up on their implementation.Ensure incidents are reported and investigated in a timely/valued manner by providing leadership and direction in all facets of training, reporting, investigation and analysis.Develop procedural documents and review in accordance with OHS program requirements to keep current with industry standards.Participate in risk workshops and the development of risk assessments, including review and maintenance of records. Ensuring all applicable HSE program records are available and retained in accordance with Company and legal requirements.Conduct and track Health, Safety and Environment inspections and audits as outlined in the HSE Management Program, inspections and audits in accordance with Company and Jurisdictional requirements.What will you contribute?Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in health and safety working in Nuclear, Power, Oil & Gas, Mining, Infrastructure or similar industries.Knowledge of safe work practices and work experience in, conducting incident analysis, writing technical reports, managing statistics and presenting to senior managers and risk management principles or other Occupational Health & Safety related training.Bilingual in both French and English is an asset.Experience or knowledge of Canadian HS&E legislation and claims management.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of programs, including Excel and Word.Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills; effective conflict management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail, action oriented, and results driven.Must possess a valid driver's license.What we offer at AtkinsRéalis?Because we offer:The opportunity to work on an innovative and award-winning project.An exciting environment where work-life balance is important.A wide array of learning and development opportunities.Competitive compensation package.A work environment focused on health and safety.Are you up for this challenge?
