We are seeking Trainees in Psychiatry to commence for the February 2026 clinical training term. A 5-year contract will be offered and we have positions at Bloomfield Hospital in Orange and in Dubbo. The main purpose of the role is to ensure provision of safe and high quality clinical treatment and care services, whilst ensuring appropriate balance between clinical and training responsibilities. Must have been accepted by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) to commence training. Where you'll be working Our Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Services are a critical part of the care we deliver to our local communities. We are at the forefront in the delivery of rural and remote mental health, drug and alcohol services across a catchment area of 400,000 square kilometres with the regional centres of Dubbo, Orange and Bathurst as hubs to provide services both locally and to our more rural and remote towns. See the following links for a comprehensive list of our mental health, drug & alcohol services across the Local Health District: What you'll be doing The purpose of the position is to provide effective specialist psychiatric health services to patients and their families, whilst enabling entry to training so as to undertake learning and professional development activities with the aim of progressing through training to become a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP). The successful applicant will demonstrate a commitment to working within a multidisciplinary team to enhance the assessment and management of those under their care utilising a biopsychosociocultural framework that supports integrated mental and physical health care. They will have a passion and commitment to learning, education and professional development within Psychiatry demonstrated by ongoing development in expertise and progression towards attainment of Fellowship competencies of the RANZCP. Across time, the position holder will provide high quality patient care throughout the mental health care continuum, in differing settings and with people across the lifespan. The successful applicant is expected to contribute to improving mental health care for Aboriginal people, and suitable Aboriginal applicants will be given priority in Network allocation. Entry to the position is suitable for doctors who: Have been accepted into training by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), with completion of at least two (2) years FTE Prevocational Medical Training. Have current registration or have submitted an application for entry into training with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), resulting in acceptance for entry into training by the start of the 2025 clinical year. Demonstrated commitment to continually developing knowledge and clinical skills through supervision and active participation in relevant training and professional development opportunities. Demonstrated ability commensurate with level of training, to initiate, prioritise, consult on, and develop plans for the delivery and maintenance of high-quality patient care in a dynamic context with multiple competing priorities.
