We are seeking a highly competent Structural Engineer with deep knowledge of balustrade and façade design, relevant Australian Standards, and multi-state certification requirements. This role is critical to ensuring our systems meet compliance, performance, and constructability expectations across all project types—from residential towers to commercial developments and educational facilities. This is a senior, accountable engineering role. We expect precision, judgement, and the ability to certify with confidence. Key Responsibilities Undertake engineering design, structural assessment, and compliance verification for balustrades, screens, façade elements, and associated fixings. Produce structural certifications across all Australian states, including but not limited to VIC, NSW, QLD, WA, SA, TAS and ACT. Prepare and issue all required statutory documentation, including Reg 126 Compliance Certificates (VIC), Form 15 (QLD), Form 16 (QLD), Certificates of Design Compliance, and state-specific equivalents. Ensure full compliance with all relevant Australian Standards, including: AS 1288:2025 – Glass in Buildings AS 1170 series – Structural Design Actions (wind loading, imposed actions, etc.) AS/NZS 4600 – Cold-Formed Steel Structures (as applicable) AS 2156 / AS 4055 – Wind Loads (where relevant) AS 1720 / AS 4100 (if required for any structural interface) Certify proprietary Axiom systems and project-specific variations, ensuring alignment with engineering principles and code requirements. Technical Leadership Provide expert advice during design development, tender reviews, quoting, and technical clarifications. Review design drawings, shop drawings, set‑outs, and engineering mark‑ups produced by internal and external drafting teams. Define engineering parameters, constraints, allowable tolerances, and system performance criteria for each project. Support product development, system upgrades, and performance testing initiatives. Project Support & Client Interaction Liaise with project managers, designers, drafters, suppliers, and clients to resolve engineering queries. Attend design meetings and site inspections where required to verify compliance or provide technical direction. Assist in troubleshooting non‑conformance issues, on‑site variations, and engineering‑related challenges. Required Qualifications & Registrations Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (or equivalent). Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) with Engineers Australia. NER registration (National Engineering Register). Fully registered and authorised to certify and issue compliance certificates in all Australian states , including: VBA Registration – Professional Engineer (Civil/Structural) – required for Reg 126 certification Relevant state‑based engineering/structural registration where applicable Extensive experience in AS 1288:2025 design, glass selection, fixing design, and edge conditions. Strong understanding of AS 1170 (all relevant parts), particularly wind loading for façade/balustrade applications. Experience with aluminium design and façade interface engineering (AS/NZS 1664 or equivalent). Strong proficiency in structural analysis software and engineering calculations. Experience & Competencies Ability to produce clear, defensible engineering reports and certifications. Strong communication skills with the confidence to push back, challenge assumptions, and maintain engineering integrity. High attention to detail with an uncompromising approach to compliance and safety. Commercial awareness—understands constructability, cost impacts, and practical installation constraints (even though Axiom is supply‑only).
