Unilever North Rocks Supply Chain Sourcing Unit was established in the late 1960s and is dedicated to the production of Home & Personal Care products for the local Australian and New Zealand (ANZ) markets as well as Aerosols for the Asia export market. We produce leading household brands including Rexona, Impulse, Omo, Surf, Dove & Tresemme. The Sourcing Unit is continually transforming to remain competitive in the market and has recently built a new Laundry Capsules Factory in addition to the Liquids and Aerosols factories. Job Purpose The Operator is responsible for general line operations, autonomous maintenance activities, quality inspections and championing safety in the workplace to deliver the highest quality products to our consumers. As a core member of the operations team, the Operator plays a critical role in maintaining line safety, quality, and performance, while working alongside production leaders and maintenance teams on continuous improvement activities. What’s In It For You Great pay from Day One Earn $1,220/week (including 6.7% shift loading) before tax Increase your earnings as you complete training and expand your skills Stable Shift Patterns 12 hours shift Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday day Main Responsibilities Operational Activities: Start‑up/Shutdown Procedures – Carries out pre‑start‑up checks to ensure that the area and equipment are clean and are in a safe condition as per the SOP. Assists in shutting down equipment and the area as per the SOP. Clean, inspect, lubricate (CIL) – Performs CIL activities per SOPs to maintain and return equipment to the original standard. Follow the appropriate escalation procedure in the event of abnormal equipment conditions or safety hazards. Material Availability – Pick and return packaging and raw materials from warehouse locations to demarcated staging areas per 5S standards on the packing line. Quality – Performs required quality checks and monitors product quality against set standards and reports any product and packaging defects. Detects process abnormalities quickly and takes immediate action to prevent them. Administration – Conducts effective hand‑over activities and accurately records events that have occurred during shift (cases packed/rejects etc). Correctly allocates downtime in OFS and actively participates in Tier 1 and Tier 2 meetings. Safety – Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all safe practices and systems relevant to the North Rocks site and the legal responsibility placed on team members. Actively participates and contributes to safety discussions to create a safe working environment. Workplace Hazards – Knowledge of the potential hazards and risks in the work environment and job activities. Utilises appropriate safety and environment procedures for people, processes, materials, products, and equipment relevant to the task to mitigate hazards. Environment – Works to reduce and eliminate waste through the correct handling of waste and hazardous materials. Understands the importance of minimising the impact of operations on health, safety, and environment. Continuous Improvement – Awareness and knowledge of how to use performance measures to identify and prioritise losses in the production area; provides description of problems and can provide monitoring of process of line issues. Engages in root cause analysis tools and WCM practices. Teamwork – Must be a good team member capable of working with a highly effective team; responsible, supportive, and reliable. Communication – Ability to effectively communicate issues relating to safety and can provide operational observations and inputs to support decision makers by team leaders. Physical Ability – Operators require a level of agility to move quickly between workstations, ascend and descend steps often carrying loads. Assembly and control operations also require a level of hand‑eye coordination and finger dexterity. Monitoring and quality assurance tasks require an adequate level of sight and smell. Experiences & Qualifications Must be a committed team worker with a strong sense of responsibility and good attention to detail. Effective communication skills and an agile mindset.
