Position Details Full‑time (FTE 1.0). Number of Positions: 1. School Overview Yass High School is an inclusive, comprehensive and growing school close to Canberra with an enrolment of 565, 11 % of whom are Aboriginal. The school benefits from strong community relationships and offers a personalised success pathway for every student. New facilities include a STEM building (2021) and a new school hall (2023). A Trade Centre provides vocational courses (Metals, Timber, Hospitality) and an Agriculture farm supports learning in animal management and horticulture. The Support Unit comprises three Learning Hub classes and a Supported Learning Centre, and stage 5 pathways programmes help students transition to the workforce. Selection Criteria Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with Mild Intellectual Disability. Demonstrated ability to create a positive learning environment through effective classroom management and student wellbeing initiatives. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to work collaboratively, proactively and professionally with colleagues, parents, carers, school learning support officers, support agencies and the wider community. Demonstrated ability to design and teach quality, differentiated educational programs and develop Personalised Learning Support Plans and Behaviour Management Plans for students with a wide range of individual learning needs, while providing a culture of high expectations for all students in a multistage setting. Conditions Unconditional full approval to teach is required. If you do not hold a full approval, you must commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this opportunity. Relocation Support Payment of $5,000 up to $8,000 will be available for eligible applicants. Successful applicants may be entitled to a Recruitment Bonus of $20,000 (conditions apply). The Bonus will be paid on a pro‑rata basis for permanent part‑time teachers and executive staff. The maximum available per position is $20,000, including any job‑share arrangements. Benefits Recruitment Bonus up to $20,000. Relocation Support Payment $5,000–$8,000. Full‑time or part‑time appointment (FTE 0.1–0.9) as desired, subject to availability of the remaining FTE.
