Racing Analytical Services Limited – Flemington VIC About Racing Analytical Services Ltd Racing Analytical Services Ltd (RASL) is a not-for-profit company set up by the Victorian Racing Industry (VRI) and the State Government of Victoria in 1988. RASL operates a drug testing laboratory which specialises in the detection of drugs and related substances for the thoroughbred, harness and greyhound racing industries in Victoria, as well as for interstate and overseas clients. In addition, RASL provides human drug testing services and provides a certification process for sports supplements. About this position RASL is currently seeking to employ an Analytical Chemist, preferably with experience in Mass Spectrometry (LCMS and/or GCMS). Responsibilities Running a variety of drug screening methods, using both Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry and Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry techniques. Accurately checking data produced by these methods and making recommendations for further investigation if required. Liaising closely with other team members to ensure all work is completed accurately and efficiently. Performing both qualitative and quantitative confirmatory analysis of suspected drug positives in equine, canine and human samples. Performing TCO2 screening and confirmatory analysis of equine blood samples using Headspace GCMS instrumentation. Background, skills and experience A Bachelor Degree in Science or Applied Science, in chemistry or a related field (essential). At least 3 years relevant laboratory experience. Strong written & spoken communication skills. Strong problem-solving skills. Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, LIMS (preferred, but not essential). Experience with Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry and/or Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry techniques.
