Housekeeper

Apply for the Housekeeper role at Cheswold Park Hospital . Working Hours & Pattern 30 hours per week – 5 × 6 hour shifts, including weekends and bank holidays. Job Summary The post holder is part of the Facilities Team in Housekeeping and Domestic Services, responsible for carrying out catering and cleaning duties across the Cheswold Park Hospital site. Report to Housekeeping and Domestic Supervisors and the Housekeeping Manager. Key Result Areas Establish and maintain good working relationships and clear communication with ward staff and service users while delivering core housekeeping duties. Job Duties Receive and store all food in accordance with Trust policy. Maintain accurate records for food storage and regeneration. Regenerate, prepare and serve meals and sundry items in line with national standards. Prepare for meal times and display menus as per standards. Requisition sundry items, cleaning materials, linen and equipment for approval. Remove and store dirty linen with care, ensuring proper manual handling. Store personal linen as laundered and maintain adequate stocks. Launder bed linen within the unit as required. Support service users in using laundry equipment. Communicate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure special diets are provided. Communicate menu changes and answer queries with staff and users. Damp dust all items in bed areas and other furniture, including high and low surfaces. Empty and dispose of household and clinical waste per infection control policies. Supply and replenish consumables such as paper towels, toilet rolls and soap. Report mechanical defects, pest sightings or environmental faults. Secure and lock doors per unit procedures. Spot‑clean spillages in line with infection control. Dishwash and washing up teacups, saucers, side plates and cutlery. Clean bulk food heated trolleys and kitchen surfaces. Clean catering equipment and kitchen floors. Clean sanitary fittings: w.c. pans, urinals, bidets, basins, showers, shelves. Dry mop, sweep and damp mop all floor areas; machine‑scrub hard floors. Vacuum carpeted areas and clean carpets with hot water extraction. Ensure all equipment is cleaned thoroughly. Perform weekly high dusting of walls, fittings, doors and bins. Perform weekly cleaning of pipes, ledges and catering equipment. Perform periodic maintenance: floor surface care, paintwork washing, wheel cleaning, curtain changing, store cupboard cleaning, furniture cleaning. Person Specification Qualifications Level 2 Certificate in Food Safety (or willingness to complete within 12 months). Basic literacy and numeric skills. Experience Previous experience working in a demanding environment. Desirable: experience in industrial cleaning and/or catering; customer‑care or patient‑focused environment.
