Area Manager (Perioperative) St John of God Health Care - Bunbury Hospital Overview The hospital is seeking a highly organised Area Manager (Perioperative) to ensure the smooth running of the Perioperative Department. It reports to the Perioperative Services Manager and is responsible for managing daily staffing of each theatre, communicating changes, resolving problems, and ensuring lists proceed as scheduled with minimal disruptions. Key responsibilities Lead and manage the perioperative team to deliver patient‑centered care and achieve optimal patient outcomes within allocated resources while promoting St John of God Health Care Mission and Values. Work closely with the Manager of Perioperative Services, Clinical Risk team, and Learning and Development Team to meet national quality standards, ACORN and unit KPIs. Provide leadership and management to all departments in the Perioperative Unit – Preadmission, DPU, Theatre, PACU, Angiography Suite, and support administration teams daily. Oversee and liaise day‑to‑day staffing requirements with coordinators of each area as per unit goals and expectations. Assist the Manager of Perioperative Services with: Patient safety and quality – SAC1 incidents, incident investigations & quality audits. Workforce – mandatory competencies, PR&Ds, education & rostering. VMO satisfaction – VMO NPS. Patient experience – Hospital NPS & patient journey expectations. Financial stewardship – theatre utilisation & WHpOM, financial KPIs. Qualifications Current registration through the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) and a strong background in theatre nursing. Proven experience in leading and coordinating staff within a dynamic perioperative setting. Exceptional interpersonal and relationship‑building skills; collaborative and professional approach. Proficiency in key hospital systems (webPAS, OneStaff). Strong problem‑solving abilities, proactive mindset, and confidence to provide constructive performance and behavioural feedback. Capability to manage and resolve conflict in a timely manner, fostering a positive team culture. Commitment to patient care and alignment with the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care. Benefits Salary: $129,203 per annum (increase from December 2025) plus 12% superannuation. Permanent full‑time position, 38 hours per week.
