Head of Development/Full Stack Developer We are an independent, product-focused ag-tech company operating at the intersection of farm management, data, and finance . Our innovative platform enables farmers, traders, and financiers to manage and certify agricultural commodities and support finance through modern software systems. We are now expanding our engineering capability to improve and scale our core applications across web, mobile, and backend services. Our systems are used daily by customers operating in the agricultural supply chain, meaning the software you create will immediately influence commercial decisions, operational efficiency, and financial workflows. We're seeking a Senior Full Stack Developer who is confident working across backend, frontend, and mobile layers. You will help design, build, and maintain systems that support commodity management, inventory verification, digital settlement, partner integrations, and mobile applications used by farmers and financiers. Elixir / Phoenix on the backend GraphQL API layer for data access and integrations React for the web application React Native for the mobile application PostgreSQL as the core data store GitHub for source control GitHub Actions CI/CD deploying into AWS But you are not limited to these technologies. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain services using Elixir / Phoenix , focusing on reliability, scalability, and functional programming principles. Extend and optimise our GraphQL API , including schema design, performance tuning, and secure data access. Contribute to architectural decisions across distributed systems, event workflows, data modelling, and service boundaries. Implement integrations with payment providers, financial intermediaries, accounting systems, and authentication providers. Build robust backend features that support commodity certification, inventory tracking, settlement logic, and audit trails. Participate in the recruitment and evaluation of new engineering hires as the team grows. Frontend & Mobile Development Build and refine user-facing features using React and React Native . Optimise UI performance, offline capability, synchronisation, and mobile user experience. Translate product requirements into intuitive, functional, and efficient interfaces that work reliably in regional and rural environments. Collaborate on CI/CD pipeline improvements using GitHub Actions deploying to AWS . Maintain system reliability, logging, error tracking, and monitoring. Contribute to discussions and decisions on infrastructure, security, and platform reliability. Recommend and implement improvements to performance, caching, automation, and resilience. Work closely with leadership to shape product direction, technical roadmaps, and long-term system design. Participate in problem-solving discussions around how agricultural data interacts with finance, logistics, settlement, and real-world on-farm workflows. Manage engineers and contribute to engineering standards, documentation, and code quality practices. Technical Environment You will be working with a modern, clean technology environment: Source code hosted entirely on GitHub Automated CI/CD delivering backend, web, and mobile to AWS Infrastructure and pipelines designed to be extensible, modular, and developer-friendly Minimal legacy systems High willingness to adopt new tools and approaches when justified Fast decision-making and direct collaboration with leadership Bring your own ideas. If you prefer a different approach for testing, state management, build tooling, observability, infrastructure-as-code, GraphQL schemas, or deployment strategies, you will have support in designing and implementing it. Skills & Experience 4+ years professional experience in backend or full-stack engineering Strong experience with one or more of: Elixir , Phoenix , GraphQL , React , React Native , TypeScript, or similar modern frameworks Strong understanding of relational data modelling (PostgreSQL or similar) Experience deploying applications through CI/CD pipelines Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure) Solid understanding of security, authentication, authorisation, and data integrity Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of technical decision-making Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to design scalable, maintainable systems Exposure to FinTech , AgTech , supply-chain systems, logistics, or marketplaces Experience with Elixir ecosystem tools Integration experience with payment, settlement, or accounting systems Familiarity with event-driven architectures, message queues, or distributed services Mobile app deployment experience (App Store / Google Play) What We Offer Competitive compensation ($130,000–$150,000 + super , depending on experience) Potential equity participation for senior hires Fully remote or hybrid working arrangements Flexible hours and outcome-focused culture Exciting opportunities to travel across Australia , visiting farms, agribusinesses and regional partners to gain hands-on insight into the agricultural industries we support.
