Please DO NOT use Quick apply – applications are only accepted via email – (details below) Provide general and political advice to the Minister across portfolios and parliamentary responsibilities that are consistent with the objectives of the government. Key Responsibilities Provide the Minister with advice on strategic issues, policy proposals and submissions. Keep the Minister abreast of significant developments and issues relevant to their portfolios. Assist the Senior Advisor to manage the office operations and work to ensure a strong positive culture of performance. Develop relationships with key stakeholder groups relevant to the portfolio(s) of the Minister. Maintain effective communications with relevant government departments and external stakeholders so that up-to-date information is available to better inform discussions, policy, risk management and planning. Ensure that the Minister is appropriately briefed for all Parliamentary responsibilities. Prepare briefings, correspondence, speeches and reports as required. Work closely with the Senior Adviser to support the Minister. Selection Criteria Demonstrated high level interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality. Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement with sensitivity to individual, community and political needs. Strong time management, planning and organisational skills, capacity to set priorities, balance competing tasks and meet deadlines. Sound knowledge or understanding of government and political processes and procedures. Knowledge of or experience in the portfolio areas relevant to the position, ideally within a Northern Territory context. • a cover letter addressing how you meet the requirements of the role.
