Employment Details Work type: Full-time. Salary ranges vary by level, e.g., Level A ($83,268 – $111,939), Level B ($117,684 – $139,191), Level C ($143,490 – $165,001), Level D ($172,171 – $189,376), Level E ($220,925). Positions Available Deakin Law School is looking to appoint several developing or established scholars to ongoing academic positions, both teaching and research and education-focused. Roles include: Associate Lecturer (Level A) Lecturer (Level B) Senior Lecturer (Level C) Associate Professor (Level D) Professor (Level E) Key Fields of Expertise Property Law Equity and Trusts Contract Law Evidence Criminal Law Family Law Commercial Law Environmental Law Health Law Responsibilities Delivering student-centred education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels across a variety of teaching modes (asynchronous, synchronous online, and face‑to‑face). As a member or leader of teaching teams, develop and implement effective and innovative curriculum design and educational resources. Create and administer a variety of assessment tasks, providing clear assessment criteria and timely feedback to students. Supervise research students (Honours and HDR). Contribute to a culture of collaboration and educational excellence within the Law School, including mentoring of colleagues and building teaching and learning capability. In a teaching and research role, undertake scholarly research, publish in quality journals and secure research funding. Build a national reputation through a recognised body of work and, at senior lecturer level or above, participate in and lead collaborations with national or international impact. In an education‑focused role, contribute to the advancement of knowledge within the field or in relation to legal pedagogy. Foster relationships with academics, universities, the community, government and the legal profession, contributing to the University's community engagement agenda. Qualifications & Selection Criteria A PhD in Law (Levels B‑E) or substantial progress towards completion of a PhD in Law (Level A). A strong (Level A), excellent (Levels B, C and D) or outstanding (Level E) record of scholarly learning and teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate programmes, including research supervision. For teaching and research applicants: a developing research agenda (Level A), or an emerging (Level B), national (Level C) or international (Levels D and E) research reputation, underpinned by publications in quality journals and/or success in obtaining research funding. An ability to contribute to service and leadership within the Law School commensurate with the role and level sought. An ability to contribute to community engagement around legal research (teaching and research roles) and the teaching of law (all roles). Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues. A commitment to fostering relationships with fellow scholars, the community, the profession, and government, and with other higher educational institutions.
