Job Summary Catholic Diocese of Ballarat Home to 23 parishes and over 70 church communities, the Catholic Diocese of Ballarat is a diverse and geographically extensive Community of Communities covering the western third of Victoria, from the Murray River in the north to the Southern Ocean in the south. The Diocese spans many provincial centres and large rural areas, encompassing primary and secondary industry, tourism and places of natural beauty such as the Great Ocean Road, the Grampians, the Murray River towns, desert landscapes and goldfields. The Safeguarding Coordinator will work in the Ballarat CBD, reporting to the Bishop, Business Manager and Professional Standards Committee. Responsibilities include policy framework training, reportable conduct case management, incident investigation, regulatory reporting, risk register maintenance, and Safeguarding audit processes. The role requires travel across the Diocese and collaboration with parish personnel, program participants and government regulators. Duties Manage diocesan-wide adherence to the Victorian Child Safe Standards and National Catholic Safeguarding Standards. Build and strengthen the Safeguarding Framework by developing policies and procedures. Provide incident reporting guidance to the Diocese team. Support broader governance and audit projects as required. Undertake travel throughout the Diocese (fleet car and travel expenses provided). Skills & Experience Minimum five years in a similar Safeguarding role. Expertise in conducting reportable incident investigations and reporting requirements. Excellent verbal and written communication; stakeholder management; report writing; document management. Ability to work autonomously and meet hard deadlines. Proactive, positive approach with exceptional attention to detail. Australian university bachelor’s degree or higher (social work, education, psychology, law, etc.). Essential Requirements Current Victorian Employee Working with Children Check. Current Victorian Driver’s License and excellent driving record. Complete a thorough current national criminal history check (ongoing). Hold unlimited Australian working rights. Benefits Competitive salary package. Supportive team culture.
