Organisation/Company Copenhagen Business School Department The Department of Economics Research Field Economics Researcher Profile First Stage Researcher (R1) Recognised Researcher (R2) Positions Postdoc Positions Country Denmark Application Deadline 14 Dec 2025 - 12:00 (Europe/Copenhagen) Type of Contract Temporary Job Status Full-time Offer Starting Date 1 Sep 2026 Is the job funded through the EU Research Framework Programme? Not funded by a EU programme Is the Job related to staff position within a Research Infrastructure? No Offer Description Copenhagen Business School invites applications for a vacant Postdoc in Labor Economics at the Department of Economics. The Department of Economics engages in research, teaching, and knowledge transfer within the core areas of economics, i.e. microeconomics, macroeconomics, and quantitative methods. The department has a strong research profile and an excellent track record in fundraising. It is especially active in business‑related and applied economic research, and hosts two research centres: Copenhagen School of Energy Infrastructure (CSEI) and Pension Research Centre (PeRCent). The department currently manages several research projects funded by Danish and EU research councils, as well as by private foundations and companies. In addition, the department is responsible for teaching at the undergraduate, graduate, and PhD levels across various study programmes at CBS. The postdoctoral researcher will collaborate with Associate Professor Annaïg Morin on a research project exploring gender differences in labour market dynamics and career progression. The project examines the origins and consequences of gender disparities in employment trajectories, firm and task segregation, and career advancement, with a focus on how family dynamics, social norms, and household specialization shape job‑search behaviour and labour‑market outcomes. The research combines empirical analysis using Danish register data with the development of search‑theoretic models. In addition to contributing to the project, the postdoctoral researcher will be encouraged to pursue independent research in related fields. The Postdoc is a non‑tenured position for a two‑ or three‑year period, to be negotiated during interviews. The position will have a research obligation. If the selected candidate is only interested in research without teaching, the Postdoc position may be for two years. If the selected candidate is interested in teaching, the position may also have a teaching obligation, and then the Postdoc position will be for three years. This latter entails that teaching will be one third of the workload. To fulfil the research requirements of the position, the selected applicant is expected to be physically present on a regular basis and actively participate in the teaching and research activities of the Department. Qualifications The applicant must hold a PhD or the equivalent. In assessing applications, particular emphasis will be placed on the following: A strong background in labour economics, applied micro‑econometrics, or macro‑labour economics; Knowledge of structural modelling approaches to job search and labour‑market dynamics; Proficiency in Stata; Knowledge of R, Matlab, Python, and/or Fortran; Experience working with micro data, ideally administrative or matched employer–employee data; Documented research track record at international level, including publications in recognised journals in the field. Emphasis will be placed on research relevant to the job description. The applicant must have professional proficiency in English (written and spoken). Copenhagen Business School has a broad commitment to the excellence, distinctiveness and relevance of its teaching and research programs. Candidates who wish to join us should demonstrate enthusiasm for working in an organisation of this type (highlighting, for example, relevant business, educational and dissemination activities). Prospects The successful candidate will join a dynamic and internationally oriented research environment within the Department of Economics at Copenhagen Business School. CBS is strongly committed to excellence, distinctiveness, and societal relevance in both its teaching and research activities. The position offers an opportunity to further develop the postdoctoral researcher’s profile through collaboration with experienced faculty members and participation in ongoing research projects, while also supporting independent research initiatives. The postdoctoral researcher is expected to contribute actively to the department’s academic life, including participation in seminars, workshops, and research collaborations. Support will be provided for presenting research at leading international conferences and publishing in high‑quality field and general‑interest journals. The position offers access to high‑quality Danish register data and provides a well‑equipped workspace located in the heart of Copenhagen.
