About OzHarvest OzHarvest is a leading food rescue organisation on a mission to Nourish our Country by stopping good food from going to waste and delivering it to charities that help feed people in need. Through our education programs and our advocacy work we hope to inspire others to change behaviour and help reach the national target of halving food waste by 2030. About the role We are on the look‑out for a confident and friendly driver that is passionate about the community and sustainability to help OzHarvest on a part time basis (Wednesdays & Thursdays). As a food rescue driver you will spend the workday in our bright yellow van collecting and redistributing good quality surplus food and delivering it to the various charities we serve around Cairns with a smile and compassion. Here’s a little insight into a day in the life of a food rescue driver. Vans and trucks require a car licence only (no truck licence needed). Our onboarding process includes training on our safety systems, food rescue processes and includes buddy shifts to get you ready for solo shifts. Our logistics team provides ongoing support in real time to help navigate each day’s food rescue run. If you have experience driving and are seeking a role where you can make an immediate difference for people and planet we need you The successful candidate will Be able to safely navigate around Cairns and must hold a valid Australian Drivers Licence (auto car licence is fine) Be excited to foster relationships with people at your pick‑up and drop‑off locations and educate and inspire behaviour change by talking about our work Be physically fit and be able to load and unload vibrant nutritious food boxes (up to 15 kg per box) Bring an energetic proactive & friendly vibe to the team.
