About the Role We are seeking an experienced and passionate Teacher of the Deaf to join our dedicated team. This role supports deaf and hard of hearing students across the College, ensuring they experience a rich and inclusive educational journey. You will work closely with classroom teachers, Deaf Integration Support Staff, and Student Coordinators to design, implement, and evaluate programs that meet individual learning needs, while also promoting student wellbeing and engagement. Key Responsibilities Liaise with Early Intervention Programs and assess prospective deaf / hard of hearing students. Design, implement and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Collaborate with teachers and coordinators to modify curriculum and embed Deaf Education strategies. Support students individually, in small groups, or within mainstream classrooms. Organise and participate in Program Support Group (PSG) meetings. Maintain accurate student records and contribute to NCCD reporting and compliance. Provide regular feedback to students and parents through Continuous Reporting. Participate in professional learning and actively share expertise in Deaf Education. Engage in co-curricular programs and College community events. Uphold MLC's Child Safe Program and all associated policies and reporting obligations. Essential Criteria Postgraduate qualification in Inclusive Education (Hearing Impaired). Qualification and experience with Auslan P–12. Experience with NCCD reporting and compliance for students with hearing impairment. Demonstrated ability to integrate Deaf Education requirements into mainstream curriculum. Proven excellence in student learning and wellbeing. Knowledge of current, evidence-based teaching practices. Strong planning, organisational and communication skills. Ability to use data to refine teaching practice and support student growth. Current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration and subject-specific qualifications. Commitment to co-curricular involvement and professional learning. Alignment with MLC's values, including a strong understanding of the Victorian Child Safe Standards.
