Corporate - Contract Law Attorney / Corporate - Compliance Attorney in Tweed Heads, New South Wales Job Title: Principal Legal Officer, Commercial Law Job Responsibilities: The Principal Legal Officer (PLO) in Commercial Law is a subject matter expert responsible for supervising and guiding a team of legal officers. Key responsibilities include: Providing pragmatic and concise legal advice on property law, leasing, major procurements, intellectual property, probity, funding, and grant arrangements. Managing and developing senior legal officers and legal officers through effective performance management. Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to manage legal risks on behalf of the department. Collaborating with other PLOs in managing workflow, reporting, and contributing to team and branch meetings. Ensuring appropriate briefing and escalation processes are followed and supporting the team in achieving goals. Personally handling matters of a more technical or sensitive nature and driving issues forward. Education and Experience Information: Essential qualifications and experience for the role include: A degree in law from an Australian university or a comparable overseas degree recognized in Australia for admission to practice. A current Practising Certificate or eligibility to attain one. At least three years of post-qualification experience. The ideal candidate should also have specialized knowledge and experience in commercial law advisory work, preferably including government procurement and contracting, grants, and property. They should possess strong management and leadership skills, excellent legal advice writing, counseling and research skills, and sophisticated relationship management, communication, and negotiation abilities. Salary Information: The role offers a salary range of $157, to $177,, plus a % superannuation contribution. Flexible working arrangements can be negotiated in accordance with the Enterprise Agreement and the operational requirements of the role. The position is ongoing (permanent) and full-time.
