The role will provide support to the parents and guardians in the enrolments process through to providing ongoing support through, wellbeing and social inclusion responses and program activities for the school that directly enhance the engagement of the young people that attend the school. All program activities are to complement the educational programs and support the engagement of young peoples’ learning at the school. The position involves working directly with children and young people on a daily basis and therefore must be able to demonstrate an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children. All young people are owed a duty of care while in the supervision of the position. To perform this role, it is essential that the person who holds the position be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti‑Discrimination Act 1991 that applicants are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders. This position acts under the direction of the Area Principal reporting through the Head of Campus or Delegate. Selection Criteria Work collaboratively with all staff members to provide a safe, conductive work environment, for all staff and young people. Demonstrated understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal young people. Ability to communicate sensitively with and effectively engage with Aboriginal young people, their families/carers and community. Support staff in providing activities/programs for young people. Proven ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team, to work collaboratively and establish and maintain professional relationships with all stakeholders. Ability to operate within the context of EREA Policies and Procedures. Working with Children Clearance – imperative and Catholic Clearance letter. Current drivers licence essential.
