For more information on MBS Environmental please visit: the RoleDue to increased demand and complexity for contaminated sites investigations – especially in the southwest of Western Australia – we are looking for a new team member with experience in contamination assessments, management and remediation. You will be working as part of a highly experienced team of scientists, geochemists, hydrogeologists and engineers in both the MBS Perth and Busselton offices. There is a particular opportunity for growth in contaminated sites work through the MBS southwest team based in Busselton. MBS geoscience now has the largest team of geochemists and geochemical / hydrogeochemical modellers in Australia as well as expertise in ecotoxicology, human health risk and environmental risk assessments to support your work. The work will involve a variety of projects including contaminated sites assessments, acid sulfate soils, ground / surface water quality, transport fate chemical modelling, environmental risk assessments and air quality / human health risk assessments. The role will involve a combination of project management, mentoring and technical written report generation. Qualifications & Experience Hold suitable tertiary qualifications (bachelor's or higher), in a field such as chemistry, geochemistry, geology, soil science or environmental engineering. Have an additional working understanding in areas of hydrogeology and broader environmental science aspects. Post graduate qualifications in these subjects will be viewed favourably. Have at least 10 years' of experience working in the contaminated land field in Western Australia, with an in-depth understanding and knowledge of the WA Contaminated Sites Act and associated regulations and guidelines. Be highly experienced in planning and conducting field sampling, monitoring and assessments, including groundwater monitoring, soil sampling, contaminated sites assessments and their remediation and acid sulfate soil assessments field work. Be experienced in managing projects, budgets, schedules and deliverables, ensuring timely and cost‑effective completion of tasks. Be experienced with coordinating the work of a team and mentoring an established team of more junior team members to deliver works and develop their skills. Enjoy working as part of a team but also have the ability to work independently to deliver high quality outcomes. There is opportunity to be multidisciplinary in the role and work across other areas of MBS projects, including management plans, rehabilitation, mine closure planning and environmental approvals.
