About the Role As the Environmental Health Team Leader , you will: Lead and manage enforcement programs to ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety legislation, including the Food Act and Public Health Act. Oversee inspections and investigations: Manage health inspections for food businesses, skin penetration, hair and beauty, cooled water systems, and onsite wastewater systems. Handle legal and regulatory processes: Prepare notices, fines, orders, and evidence for court proceedings, liaising with Council’s solicitors when required. Team supervision and development: Delegate tasks, approve leave and timesheets, conduct performance reviews, and mentor staff to maintain high standards. Support operational planning: Assist with risk assessments, policies, procedures, cost centre administration, and step in as Acting Manager when needed. What You’ll Bring: Extensive experience in Environmental Health in a Local Government environment. A tertiary qualification in Environmental Health or related discipline. Demonstrated experience in managing budgets. Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret legislation for practical enforcement purposes. Problem solving and decision making in the office and field; to be assertive when warranted. Experience in the NSW Land and Environment and NSW Local Courts.
