Teacher - Learning Support Coordinator role at Department of Education, Western Australia This is a twelve (12) month fixed term, part‑time (0.8 FTE) position commencing Term 1, 2026, with possible extension (12 months) and/or permanency. The Role The Learning Support Coordinator will have a hands‑on role leading teachers to develop and implement student‑centred curriculum and assessment adjustments to allow students with both diagnosed and imputated disabilities to achieve success within the College’s mainstream context. A high level of interpersonal skills and drive, with the ability to establish and maintain networks both internally and externally, will be highly regarded. The successful applicant should foster positive relationships with key stakeholders and provide timely support to students, staff, and families using a student‑centred case‑management model. This role requires organisational skills, including the ability to manage time effectively, prioritise, keep accurate records, and analyse data to inform planning and practice that improves outcomes for students. The successful applicant should display knowledge and skills in some or all of the areas below: Contemporary, evidence‑based practices related to ASD, ADHD, Specific Learning Disorders, and other learning disabilities and difficulties. Leading the school‑wide Individual Education Plan (IEP) process, including development, implementation, and review of IEPs, and monitoring through structured case‑management meetings each semester. Supporting the improvement of literacy and numeracy outcomes of students with learning support needs through suitable intervention and differentiation strategies within the classroom. Coordinating case management for students with identified learning needs, ensuring external specialist recommendations and assessments are effectively integrated into school‑based planning and support. Liaising and collaborating with external agencies (e.g. School of Special Educational Needs, allied health professionals, NDIS providers) to ensure coordinated, holistic support for students. Managing and monitoring Disability Resourcing applications and renewals, including maintenance of funding documentation, timelines, and resourcing checklists in line with Departmental requirements. Overseeing compliance and data accuracy for NCCD, SCSA Disability Adjustments, and Special Examination Provisions (e.g. NAPLAN, OLNA, WACE), ensuring appropriate evidence and adjustments are in place. Maintaining and updating a whole‑school database of student diagnoses, adjustments, and plans to support effective communication and continuity of support across the College. Leading transition planning for students with complex learning needs, including primary‑to‑secondary and post‑school pathways, through collaboration with families, agencies, and internal coordinators. Supporting and coaching teachers and education assistants working with students who require a significant level of differentiated educational delivery. Applying data analysis to track and monitor student progress and inform intervention planning. Ensuring compliance with all school and Departmental data recording requirements and processes. This position may include a small teaching component in alignment with the successful applicant’s skill‑set and the needs of the College.
