About the role This Cost Controller role plays a key part in supporting financial oversight across a portfolio of major projects. You will ensure budgets, forecasts, and expenditure are accurately monitored while providing financial insights to senior leadership. Working closely with project managers and finance teams, this role ensures strong cost governance and contributes directly to informed decision-making across the program. Prepare and present financial reports, cost forecasts, and variance analyses for senior stakeholders. Reconcile, analyse, and extract financial data using SAP and AFO. Ensure proper capitalisation of project costs and maintain accurate financial records. Support audits, compliance processes, and grant acquittals. Identify opportunities to enhance financial workflows, reporting templates, and cost‑control processes. Monitor project risks, commitments, and financial impacts, escalating where required. Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to provide financial insights that support decision‑making. About you We are seeking candidates with the following skills and experience: Required Strong background in cost control, project accounting, or financial analysis. Experience managing budgets, forecasts, and cost tracking across complex projects. Proficiency in SAP, AFO, or similar financial systems. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and provide insights. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Ability to work autonomously, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines. Queensland Government or public‑sector experience. Preferred Experience in capital projects, infrastructure, resources, or engineering‑related environments. Exposure to audit, compliance, or grant reporting processes.
