Donation Sorting Volunteer - Vinnies Warehouse Mitchell Position Overview:As a Donation Sorting Volunteer at Vinnies Warehouse Mitchell, you will be part of a dedicated team helping to sort, organise, and prepare donated items for resale in Vinnies shops across the Canberra / Goulburn region. The proceeds from these sales go directly toward supporting our vital programmes for people in need. This role ensures donated goods are properly sorted, safe to sell, and available for customers in Vinnies stores. Key Responsibilities Donation Sorting: Sort and organise donations into categories (e.g. clothing, furniture, household items, books, toys). Quality Control: Inspect donated items for damage or safety hazards and remove unsuitable items from circulation. Labeling: Assist with labeling items for resale according to Vinnies standards. Storage Organisation: Help organise and maintain the warehouse space, ensuring items are stored efficiently and safely. Teamwork: Collaborate with fellow volunteers and staff to meet warehouse team and commercial operation service goals and maintain a positive work environment. Health & Safety: Follow safety protocols and report any hazards or issues to your supervisor. Skills and Qualifications No experience required; full training will be provided. Good organisational skills and attention to detail. Ability to lift and carry items safely (with assistance if needed). Ability to work independently or as part of a team. A positive attitude and willingness to contribute to a supportive team environment. An interest in community service and helping those in need. Basic knowledge of health and safety guidelines.
