Leading Teacher - Head of School Leader (Year 7) Department of Education Victoria – Wyndham Vale VIC Manor Lakes P‑12 College, opened in 2009 and located on Minindee Road, Wyndham Vale, has an enrolment of 3,000 students. The college supports a culturally and socio‑economically diverse student body, with 16% of students coming from a language background other than English and a Student Family Occupation (SFO) of 0.552 indicating community disadvantage. Selection Criteria SC1 Demonstrated expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum; proven ability to lead the implementation of school priorities and the teaching of literacy and numeracy across the curriculum. SC2 Demonstrated ability to lead the planning and implementation of high‑impact teaching strategies that respond to student learning needs; support teachers to evaluate the impact of learning and teaching programmes on student growth. SC3 Demonstrated exemplary ability to monitor and assess student learning at a class, cohort or whole‑school level and use this data to lead improvement initiatives; support others in using data to inform practice and provide feedback on student growth to students and parents. SC4 Demonstrated exemplary interpersonal and leadership skills; lead collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, parents and wider community focusing on student learning, agency, wellbeing and engagement. SC5 Demonstrated ability to model behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values and support colleagues to adopt these; reflect upon own and whole‑school practice and contribute to whole‑school professional learning. Role Leading teachers are highly skilled classroom practitioners who undertake leadership and management roles commensurate with their salary range. They improve the skill, knowledge and performance of the teaching workforce within the school or group of schools and enhance the curriculum programme. Responsibilities Lead and manage the implementation of whole‑school improvement initiatives related to the school strategic plan and priorities. Lead and manage curriculum planning and delivery improvement strategies. Provide professional development and develop individual and team development plans for teaching staff. Lead staff performance and development reviews. Teach demonstration lessons. Develop and lead the school’s assessment and reporting policies and practices. Implement school operations and policies related to student welfare and discipline. Develop curriculum in a major learning area and contribute to curriculum development in other areas. Manage general discipline matters beyond classroom teacher management. Contribute to overall leadership and management of the school. Contribute proposals for school council consideration. Develop and manage the school code of conduct. Who May Apply Teachers registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach the curriculum area(s) specified for the position. Position Purpose The Head of School Leading Teacher provides curriculum, wellbeing and engagement leadership for Year 7 in a P‑12 school. Conditions of Employment All staff have access to a broad range of employment conditions. Appointment is subject to satisfactory pre‑employment checks. A probationary period may apply during the first year, with support through induction and development programmes. Completion of an accredited initial teacher education programme of at least postgraduate level, accredited by an Australian State or Territory Teacher Regulatory Authority.
