We’re moving forward and we want you to come along for the ride.About the opportunityReporting to the Head of Legal (People & Culture, Network Operations, Community, Sustainability & Stakeholder Engagement), you will be responsible for providing broad commercial legal advice and support to stakeholders in these parts of the business, with a focus on the Network Operations business unit.Network Operations plays a critical role in planning, building, and maintaining infrastructure and operations across the enterprise while meeting agreed service, cost, and performance targets. It is responsible for delivering billions of items annually to millions of delivery points across Australia and around the world. Network Operations includes Australia Post letter and parcel delivery, StarTrack Express, premium services, fleet and asset management, operations technology, and facility property.The Corporate Lawyer will support this key area of the business which is continually evaluating its processes and simplifying its operating model, to ensure sustainability of our parcel deliveries, while bedding down changes to letters delivery.What you’ll deliver with usAs an officer of the Court, you’ll be required to adhere to legal and professional ethical obligations in carrying out the role’s legal advisory functions. Your success is dependent on using your problem solving skills and legal judgment, with a strong understanding of our clients, as well as the external commercial, legal and regulatory environment. You’ll think commercially and strategically and generate solutions to assist your internal clients’ initiatives to move forward successfully.You’ll alsoDraft and negotiate contracts that achieve business objectives and allocate risk in accordance with risk appetiteHave great problem-solving skills and generate commercial solutions that assist with the success of key business initiativesBe pragmatic and commercial to support your stakeholders manage their legal obligations in accordance with Australia Post’s risk appetite and regulatory frameworksAssist stakeholders to meet their strategic objectives and priorities, provide independent, strategically focused, legal advice that adds value for Australia PostDevelop and maintain standard form legal documentation, resources, and toolkitsAdvocate for strong corporate ethics and governanceIdentify legal issues and risks in existing business operations and new business initiativesAssist in training the business to understand their legal rights and compliance obligationsAbout youYou will have at least 5 years post-admission experience, having worked at a top tier firm, or demonstrated in-house experienceYou will hold an unrestricted Australian practicing certificateStrong commercial acumen with excellent negotiation, drafting, communication, and stakeholder engagement skillsThe ability to build strong relationships and effectively influence internal and external stakeholdersA proactive lawyer with a positive attitudeHow we’ll deliver for youJoin one of the most culturally and linguistically diverse workforces in Australia, where we’re all ages, genders and come from all walks of lifeWe deliver on our values of Trust, Inclusivity, Empowerment and Safety every day.
