Principal - Power Engineering Join Beca as a Principal – Power Engineering and help transform the energy future with innovative, sustainable solutions. The Opportunity Beca’s power team delivers cutting‑edge high‑voltage solutions across Australasia. With a strong project pipeline, we seek an experienced Secondary (Power) Engineer to design high‑voltage substations for major transmission and distribution clients. This role offers growth into leadership within an employee‑owned, high‑performing organisation. Key Responsibilities Develop secondary electrical designs for 500 kV transmission and distribution substations. Provide detailed design services for high‑voltage systems control, protection, and SCADA, including panel layouts, schematics, cable schedules, and connection schedules. Work under the supervision of a Senior Secondary Engineer (local and/or international). Mentor junior engineers in secondary design preparation. Understand and apply client standards. Conduct self‑checks using standard checklists, preparing packages for verification and quality checks. Collaborate with teams in Australia and New Zealand to deliver coordinated designs that meet client expectations. What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering. Experience developing secondary and/or protection designs for high‑voltage networks. Strong fundamentals across engineering disciplines. Excellent organisational and multitasking skills. Effective verbal communication and interpersonal abilities. Proven ability to work collaboratively with local and international teams to deliver projects on time and within budget. Passion for coaching and mentoring emerging engineers. Consultancy experience is advantageous but not essential. What We Offer Flexible working options and dedicated wellbeing leave.
