YOUR ROLE Are you looking to kick start your career whilst making a real difference in your community? This is your opportunity to become an integral member of the Goulburn Mulwaree Council workforce, and to earn while you learn Thanks to NSW Government funding and support through the “A fresh start for local government apprentices, trainees and cadets” program, we have an exciting opportunity available in our Parks and Gardens team. As the Apprentice Horticulturalist, you will work in a supportive environment to gain the skills and knowledge required for a nationally recognised qualification, while assisting with the maintenance, improvements and preparation of parks and recreation areas. This is a four-year apprenticeship. YOUR APPRENTICESHIP As part of your apprenticeship, you will: complete a Certificate III in Horticulture be paid while you learn from experienced mentors get hands‑on experience with real projects build practical skills that employers value contribute to meaningful work in your local area set yourself up for a successful future in local government have access to e‑learning platforms and ongoing training and support through Council’s cultural development programme YOUR WORKING ENVIRONMENT During your apprenticeship, you will have access to: a commencing weekly salary up to $947.70, dependent upon age and experience (more information can be provided by the below contact) 12% superannuation a 38‑hour week, working a 9‑day fortnight 2 health and wellbeing leave days for your Christmas break 3 weeks sick leave per year, cumulative where unused salary packaging options available including novated leasing generous reward and recognition programmes and initiatives YOUR WELLBEING As part of our Health & Wellbeing framework, you will have access to: a suite of health and wellbeing programmes offered each year free vaccinations and health checks a supportive and inclusive workplace and culture where your opinion is valued a range of mentally healthy workplace initiatives and support from mental health champions access to a confidential counselling service for you and your family staff fitness initiatives The contact officer for this position is Scott Writer, Community Facilities Supervisor on 4***.
