On-site Overview Mueller Automotive in Cairns, Far North Queensland is looking for qualified automotive mechanics for several positions in our busy workshops. The role involves working on a wide variety of all makes of cars Monday to Friday full‑time, with hours from 7.30 am to 4 pm. Benefits & Working Conditions Busy and fast‑paced workshop environment 5‑day working week with opportunity for overtime Friendly and supportive work environment Casual and full‑time contracts Over‑award wages: salary ranges $65,000 – $80,000 per annum, dependent on experience Qualifications Certificate III or IV in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent trade qualification Minimum 2–3 years post‑qualification experience as an automotive mechanic Strong mechanical knowledge Efficient time‑management skills Trustworthy and systematic problem‑solving ability Excellent communication skills, reliability, punctuality, dependability and dynamism Current manual driver’s licence Responsibilities Detect and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in engines and parts Dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other components, and inspect parts Repair and replace worn and defective parts, reassemble mechanical components, and refer to service manuals as needed Perform scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications and engine tune‑ups to ensure vehicles run smoothly and comply with pollution regulations Reassemble engines and parts after repair Test and adjust mechanical parts after repair for proper performance Diagnose and test parts with assistance of computers Inspect vehicles and issue roadworthiness certificates or detail work required to achieve roadworthiness Respond to vehicle breakdown service calls as required Sponsorship We offer sponsorship opportunities for the right candidates who are already in the country or eligible for employer sponsorship.
